It’s like everything you love, dream, fight for is slippin’ away and you’re lost, confused, unsure because every road in front of you is going a different way. And, unfortunately there’s no scarecrow to show you, just a witch to tell you you’ve made your choice, there’s no turning back, and you desperately need a wizard to give you your heart back.
Everything you earn, everything that comes to you that you feel you deserve gets taken away. The world is out to get you, it’s not fair, it’s not right, you’re not okay. You ask the Lord what you’ve done wrong, what it is that you did to bring the rain, this confusion, this unbearable pain?
It’s as if you work so hard and receive nothing in return. The prize is in front of you, but you can never reach. Ambition and perseverance are just hopeless and a waste of time. When will you be rewarded, when won’t you feel like this? When will the rain stop, the tears end, when will this pain subside?
The light in your eye isn’t there and those around you ask you why. You don’t know what to say, so you just cry. You try to make yourself numb, but this brings the tears out, it doesn’t make you forget. Everyone wonders what’s happened to you, why are you like this? There’s no answer, no explanation, just anger and frustration. But, you don’t care anymore, nothing matters. One part of you is saying this has to end, but you call the other side your friend, bringing your life to an end.
When the scarecrow isn’t there because you won’t open your eyes to see, you chose the wrong path, you don’t believe. The yellow-brick road turns black, pavement hot on your feet. You lose energy, you just want to sleep. Can you turn around, you ask? You try, but the force of gravity is disabling. You hurt, you cry, you’re trembling. Fear and worthlessness blind your judgment and your friends’ advice is no longer of substance. So, you just let go, you give up. What else can you do? Your time is up.
About Me
- Grace M2
- I'm basically just your average teenager.. I have a passion for writing and actually work for our town's local paper. I'm working on a book at the moment called "Beneath the Ashes." It's about a girl battling an eating disorder.I'm not sure when it will be finished - probably a long time from now since I am so busy. Anyway, if you want to get to know me better, keep on reading. I'd like any comments, criticism, etc.
