About Me

My photo
I'm basically just your average teenager.. I have a passion for writing and actually work for our town's local paper. I'm working on a book at the moment called "Beneath the Ashes." It's about a girl battling an eating disorder.I'm not sure when it will be finished - probably a long time from now since I am so busy. Anyway, if you want to get to know me better, keep on reading. I'd like any comments, criticism, etc.

Composition 1 - Aristotelian Analysis

Composition 1
Aristotelian Analysis on Hegirascope

This series of poems represents thought. Thought, one of the six parts of tragedy, is defined by Aristotle as, “required wherever a statement is proved, or, it may be, a general truth enunciated.” Thought is “the faculty of saying what is possible and pertinent in given circumstances,” according to Aristotle.
One of the thoughts presented in this series of poems is “structure without order.” These two words are opposites that one would not put together in a proper statement. For, how can one have structure with no order, or order with no structure? This thought is making the reader dwell on its true meaning, its words so powerful that they will stick in the readers mind for a long period of time. This is the effect Aristotle believes “well-constructed poetry” should have on the readers’ mind. Well-constructed poetry should not have to be lengthy, it needs to be easily grasped by the mind.
A second thought presented in this series of poems is “every poem needs a little lingerie.” This is another statement to get the reader contemplating its true meaning. It creates an image for the reader. In this case, the word “lingerie” is not meant as one would first picture. It suggests that every poem needs to be “dressed-up.” This keeps the reader intrigued as they read along. Each individual could take this thought in a different way. For example – one might take it to mean they need something frivolous in their poem, while another might add a deep, intimate word to their poem.
This series of poems is simply an arrangement of randomized thoughts, forcing the reader to think. One can create their own meaning in relation to themselves.
